Our motivation is that:

• Our children would have the opportunity to ‘grow up green’ once informed

• The youth once won for the environment would become an agent of change

• The youth would begin to influence the adult population to change perceptions

GreenAd’s foremost strategy targeted at the youth is to:

• Develop and apply functional environmental knowledge;

• Create environmental consciousness, awareness and alertness;

• Engender environmental interest in the population;

• Create avenues and opportunities to pursue positive environmental action; and

• Give recognition for environmental leadership and exemplary action

The programme areas of focus include:

1. Environmental Information Collation

• Knowledge survey on key environmental issues
• Environmental database development on key sectors
• Partnership in environmental and related research
• Sponsorship of pertinent research and students’ project

2. Awareness and Dissemination (School and Community)

• Environmental information dissemination (through newsletters)
• Communicating ‘environment’ in the local languages (environmental phenomena, concepts and terminologies into local languages initiative)
• Promoting environmental competition

3. School and Community Campaigns

• Formation of school and community clubs
• Environmental consciousness and action through school and community clubs
• Environmental forum for the youth
• Initiative in promoting sustainable communities and lifestyles (e.g. campaign to rid of mosquitoes)

4. Waste Management

• Initiatives in waste recovery and recycling
• Initiatives in e-waste management

5. Children’s Programme

• Initiative on ‘green kidz’ (children growing up green)
• Transforming the attitudes of children (empowerment) to be in the forefront of advocating for societal change

5. Environmental Assessment

• Initiative in promoting good Environmental Assessment (EA) practice in Ghana

6. Conservation Initiatives
